After a lot of pickpocketing, it seems like the tension will turn permanently yellow, but I'm unsure if that is directly related to pickpocketing. Sometimes (bug, should be always?) the tension icon (bottom of minimap) will change from green to yellow when the mark get's upset about being robbed, and it turns green when they 'get over it' about 20-30 seconds. The mechanic is basically "steal and stay away from the mark until they calm down". For example I would wait with pickpocketing the Fort's merchants till tier2 skillbooks appear. You know, you can only steal once from a NPC (except you have Thievery on more than one char, which were almost cheating imo). But there may be some problems, I steal mainly skillbooks and consume them, so they are gone if I meet the NPC again. I did not notice any problems from stolen goods after your group was searched. Move the group to your thief and enjoy the fruits of your ugly criminal behaviour. Allow the search, he will find nothing and excuses. A little later the poor victim tries to search you to look for his goods. After your thief is safe, choose your group and quit the dialog. Beware not to park your thief among NPCs friendly to the one you stole from (Griff's gang for example if you steal from Hilde or Butter). If she (I use Sebille) is forced out of steath by other NPCs before the pickpocketing starts, usually nothing happens except astonished remarks of the NPCs.Īfter the stealing sneak away a bit, press C and run like hell for 50 or so metres. Let one group member talk to the NPC, so that he/she does not move. To avoid trouble during/after pickpocketing, I do it this way: For example with Thievery 2 you can steal two tier1 skillbooks but only one tier2 skillbook. I think the worth of the item is calculated by the thievery skill I don't know the formula. You will see that it is easy to avoid being caught. There is a certain range, ran away at least out of sight. And why should there be a way? The people are not dump, they get it when precious stuff is gone I did not find a way to avoid that people recognized being "robbed". Is there somewhere this is all explained? It's a fairly robust system, and the wiki for DOS2 is pretty incomplete at this point.ĭon't know about a guide for this. If you are stealthed and another NPC manages to pop you out of stealth while pickpocketing, does this get you caught? Once you've successfuly stolen them, is there some other way of getting busted for having stolen items on your character? I see stolen items are red and marked stolen. If you encounter the NPC you stole the item from well after you got away from the item, will they still somehow suspect you or once its gone and you got away, its done? When you pick and item from them, I see theres a weight of item scale, but what determines if you are going to be successful or not? Is there a certain range you have to be away from them when they notice, so that they dont suspect you? Is there a way to avoid this as i, that they don't even notice after you stole the item that its gone? Not as in they caught me, but some time after I successfuly got the item, they'll freak out about something missing. I see that I can sneak up and pickpocket people, get items successfully, but sometimes the person who got pickpockteted will randomly freak out that something was stolen. Have a rogue with thievery/pickpocket and am trying to figure out what the exact mechanics of it are.
